LiveWire Innovation Adds Viper Innovations as Investor and Industry Partner

Viper Innovations Ltd has acquired a one-third equity stake in the LiveWire Innovation. As part of the Viper Subsea investment in LiveWire, the companies have undertaken product development efforts, customer specific projects and cross-marketing of their respective technologies directly aimed at key markets, including the aviation, rail, utility and mining industries, as well as Viper Subsea’s core oil, gas and subsea applications.

Viper Innovations is a well-established, UK-based subsea engineering company that provides consultancy and develops products for the oil and gas sector worldwide. Viper has developed and sells a line of products with unique capabilities for Insulation Monitoring (IM) of cabling and power infrastructure in harsh environments.

The addition of LiveWire’s SSTDR technology to Viper Innovations’ proven systems enables an unrivaled ability to monitor for, detect, identify and locate all cable fault types, whether due to insulation degradation, open or short circuits, or hard to detect intermittent faults.

The strategic focus of LiveWire since 2015 has been to partner with OEM’s and end-equipment manufacturers to integrate and embed SSTDR capabilities that is needed for wide scale deployment of the technology.  We are excited to have Viper Innovations as both a financial investor and a close industry partner. Their engineering skill-set, product development capability, targeted end-markets and complimentary monitoring techniques make them a perfect fit.

Neil Douglas, Managing Director of Viper Innovations said, “SSTDR is a strong addition to Viper’s fault detection capabilities. When coupled with the Viper Subsea V-IR and V-LIM products, the combination of market-leading technology will transform the ability of clients to fully understand the integrity of their electrical cable infrastructure and pin-point the location of intermittent or permanent failures.”

In connection with the Viper Subsea investment, Mr. Douglas has become a member of LiveWire’s Board of Directors.

About Viper Innovations

Established in 2007, Viper Innovations designs, develops and supplies products and services for subsea control and distribution systems in the offshore oil and gas industry. The company is based in Portishead and has an office in Aberdeen, both of the United Kingdom. Viper has emerged as one of the subsea oil and gas industry’s most innovative companies and an example of British engineering prowess. A culture of continual investment in Research and Development has resulted in a series of innovative products, with 16 patents already filed. Over 80% of the company’s product sales are in export, with products installed worldwide. In addition to many prior awards and achievements, in April 2016, Viper Innovations won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation for its ground-breaking V-LIFE Electrical Insulation Resistance Improvement System.

LiveWire Launches the Sentinel Line of Embeddable SSTDR Engines for Cable Fault Monitoring and Intelligence

The Sentinel 100 provides a new level of electrical fault detection, identification and location in a compact, fully-engineered design ideal for integration

South Jordan, UT (March 8, 2017) — LiveWire Innovation, Inc. (“LiveWire”), a technology company that is the exclusive provider of Spread Spectrum Time Domain Reflectometry (SSTDR) announced the availability of the Sentinel 100, the first in a line of board-level 24/7 monitoring products. The Sentinel 100 or simply “S100” provides a new level of electrical fault detection, identification and location.

The ability of LiveWire’s SSTDR to operate on live systems without interfering with the host system enables system and infrastructure operators to maximize operational availability and safety, while also reducing maintenance costs. Embedded and continuous monitoring also enables preemptive action through the collection of valuable baseline data that can be used to help predict and prevent outages.

S100 SSTDRThe S100 is a fully-engineered, credit card-sized SSTDR “engine” that enables OEMs and integrators to embed the capability to detect absolute faults, such as short and open circuits, and hard-to-detect intermittent and developing events, such as arc faults, within their service infrastructure. SSTDR was first deployed in military avionics, with its tricky operating environment notorious for intermittent faults resulting in costly “No Fault Found (NFF)” conditions.

The embedded features of the Sentinel product line are particularly relevant for mission critical infrastructures such as Utilities, Rail, Aviation and Industrial Automation, where uninterrupted operation, age and harsh conditions can lead to safety risks, unplanned downtime and engineering expense.

LiveWire expects to release the next in the line of Sentinel products, slated as the Sentinel 300, in the Summer of 2017. The Sentinel 300, with a similar small form factor for ease of integration, is designed to address Three Phase industrial power applications.

For pricing and availability of the S100 or other LiveWire products, customers should email requests to info@livewireinnovation.com or via the company contacts listed below.
